MALAYSIA - I enter the lobby of Impiana KLCC Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, and go "wow!".

It looks really exclusive. A neatly-dressed doorman greets me with a friendly smile and a waiter hands me a welcome drink, making me feel like a VIP.

I am a world away from the chaotic traffic in Jalan Pinang in the heart of the city.

The hotel has won numerous awards for hospitality and service, including the best four-star City Hotel Award 2008/2009 by the Ministry of Tourism.

It recently expanded to include a 25-storey tower.

Its assistant director of marketing communications, Anthony Edwin, says the hotel offers services and facilities on par with global standards. I come away from my short visit with eight things that impress me the most:

1. Stay like a VIP

The new block has 188 units of rooms and suites tastefully designed with elegant furniture.

All rooms are spacious and come with a comfortable bed, up-to-date amenities and Internet connection.

But what I like the most is the classy all-glass bathroom with blinds for those who want some privacy.

The new block also has a spacious Club Lounge with a breathtaking view of the city. The lounge, which has a number of meeting rooms, oozes a posh aura.

2. Sweating it out up high

Who wouldn't want to sweat it out while having the best aerial view of Kuala Lumpur? I wouldn't miss it for the world!

Soothing and inviting, the gym on the 25th floor faces the imposing Petronas Twin Towers and is open to Club room guests.

3. Dine and relax

The hotel has four F&B outlets. The all-day dining Tonka Bean Cafe has a hip and contemporary ambience. Dining inside or al fresco, it is the perfect place to dine while watching the city life.

Cigar lovers shouldn't miss Bohemia Tobacco Bar, adjacent to the lobby. It has a dazzling selection of the finest cigars, including the world-class Cubans, for winding down with friends.

4. Swim to the edge

The view at the hotel's famous infinity pool is breathtaking. Swim to the edge of the pool for a sweeping view of the city.

Another place to enjoy a drink is Oswego Bar, designed with an inviting ambience to chill and wind down. For a late night cocktail, Lobby Lounge not only serves wine and snacks but also tea and coffee.

5. Perfect indulgence

A session at Swasana Spa completes your stay. It offers treatments from local Malay and Balinese to Thai for that ultimate pampering.

All treatment rooms are named after popular herbs and spices like Chili, Nutmeg and Paprika. Rich in Balinese flavours and touches, the setting itself invokes a soothing, relaxed mood.

6. Business talk

The hotel is located in the central business district of Kuala Lumpur. There are four meeting rooms, all named after local flowers: Melati, Mawar and Jasmin 1 and 2. But for those who want to hold their meeting at an exclusive space with a view, Club Lounge is the place.

7. Banquet hall

With a strategic location and a superb banquet team, the Impiana Banquet Hall may be the right venue for my wedding, oops, I mean your wedding or other functions. A crystal chandelier adds a touch of elegance, while the latest tech accessories lend a modern air.

8. Safer walk

What I like most though, is the location - opposite the Twin Towers and KL Convention Centre, and within walking distance to the Bukit Bintang shopping area.

An air-conditioned pedestrian walk that links the hotel to KL Convention Centre and Pavilion shopping mall in Bukit Bintang, is installed with security cameras.
