Water quality at Pasir Ris beach was graded as "Fair" in NEA's 2009 review,
making the waters there unsuitable for activities like swimming, wakeboarding
and water skiing. The review was based on the World Health's Organisation's
(WHO) guidelines.

The five beaches found on Sentosa Island, Seletar Island, Sembawang Park,
Changi (above) and East Coast Park were given "Very Good" or "Good" ratings,
making them suitable for whole–body water contact activities such as swimming,
water-skiing, and wakeboarding.
