Hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees took a ritual bath in India's holy Ganges river as one of the world's largest religious gatherings took place.

Indian Hindu devotees offer prayers during the solar eclipse on the banks of the river Ganges in Haridwar on January 15, 2010 during the Kumbh Mela festival (Pitcher festival).

They pray on the banks of river Ganges amidst heavy fog during the festival.

At least half a million men, women and children braved chilly winds to bathe in the icy waters of the Ganges at the Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years in different cities.
