SINGAPORE'S first casino opened for business on Sunday as the first punter was allowed into the gaming section of Resorts World Sentosa complex.

The opening - to be followed within months by a second casino resort - is part of a multi-billion-dollar effort to transform Singapore's tourism industry.

The doors to the cavernous and carpeted casino were thrown open to the public at 12.18pm on the first day of the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese lunar calendar.

By looking at the interior decorations of the casino, I noticed there are rows of fake kokonut tree below the gaming tables. Tree in Chinese is "shu", which means "loss". I guess quite a number of people lost money coz they have to pay $$$$100$$$$ to enter :) :)

Gong Xi. A very auspicious day to open a casino. Yet was it not a few years when MM said.. "NO never,. over my dead body." MM is still around and we now we will have not one but two casinos. And the opening was heralded with letting off firecrackers. Thought its illegal. So who should get fined? Or maybe MM said, okay lah, to that too.
