A man who urinated in the aisle on board a Jetstar flight from Auckland to Singapore has been let off with a warning.

According to the Shin Min Daily News and New Zealand media sources, the incident happened on Monday, during the 11-hour flight.

The drunk passenger reportedly urinated on to the carpeted aisle, a man's leg, and wet the scarf of another female passenger.

According to a statement from the airline, the crew managed to "counsel and manage" the passenger.

"We can confirm on this occasion, our crew followed all standard procedures including confiscating alcohol brought on board and issuing an onboard warning in conjunction with advice from the captain," said Jetstar in its statement.

It added that police were not notified as the passenger was cooperative and stopped his disruptive behaviour.

According to witnesses' accounts, after the incident, the passenger subsequently stumbled back to his seat and fell asleep.

A male passenger on board, Mr Amos Chapple, told the New Zealand Herald that he confronted the man in Singapore but he appeared to have no idea what he had done during the flight.

Mr Chapple told the paper that he had heard the sound of running water and saw the man urinating in the aisle, "waving back and forth".

Jetstar says it will be contacting those affected by the unruly passenger to offer compensation.
