SINGAPORE - The sequel to last October's Halloween Horror Nights is set to be bigger and bolder this year with double the number of scare actors and three haunted houses, instead of two in 2011.

The seven-day event will run from Oct 19 to 21, and Oct 25 to 28, from 8pm to midnight, after the park closes its daytime attractions at 6pm.

While Universal Studios Singapore intends to up the ante of the fright factor, ticket prices will also go up to $68 from $60 last year's admission. However, early birds can still get tickets for $60 if they buy them from now till Sept 30.

The multi-million-dollar event will see five out of the theme park's seven normal zones converted into a maze of "scare zones". This year, The Lost World will be added to the four scare zones - Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City and Ancient Egypt - and converted into a haunted house.

Production director Scott Paterson, 31, told The Straits Times that some 900 man-hours, involving 60 construction and technical crew, will be going into the making of the set and haunted houses that are currently been constructed.

When guests enter the park, they will be greeted by the Puppet master and his imaginary friends.

Among this year's haunted houses are The Insanitarium, where Doctor Dementia experiments with her ruthless therapies.

Thrill seekers can also venture into the Dungeon of Damnation, which is a torture chamber ruled by The Undertaker.

"Those who found last year's event thrilling should brace themselves for even more scares this year," said Ms Andrea Teo, vice-president of entertainment at Resorts World Sentosa.

Halloween Horror Nights 2 is a separately ticketed event and is not recommended for children under the age of 13.

Nine of the theme park's attractions, including Transformers: The Ride, Battlestar Galactica and Shrek 4D will also be remain open during the event this year.
