The Gardens by the Bay welcomed their one-millionth visitor on Saturday evening, less than two months after opening officially on June 29.
Sales and marketing executive Valerie Han, 33 - who was visiting the Gardens for the first time with her husband Sim Kia Wee, two daughters and other family members - was surprised to be told she marked the milestone.
She received an annual pass and a gift hamper.
Said Ms Han: "The Gardens are really pretty. It is quite child-friendly and will be a good excursion for us once in a while."
When completed, the Gardens by the Bay will have three parks, including Bay South, which opened on June 29. Bay South was designed by British architectural consultancy Grant Associates and cost $1 billion to build.
Spanning 54ha, it has some 700,000 plants of more than 2,000 species.
A spokesman said that visitors to the gardens over the past two months were mostly locals. A number of concerts and other events also drew crowds to the newest attraction in Singapore.
About 30 per cent of all visitors visit its two conservatories. Entrance to the gardens is free, but the conservatories are paid attractions.
