SINGAPORE - Changi Airport handled 4.36 million passengers in July, 4.5 per cent more than the same period last year.
The growth is in tandem with an increase in air traffic movements, which was up by 4.6 per cent with 27,100 landings and take-offs in July compared to a year ago.
The total number of passenger movements for the past 12 months amounted to about 49.3 million, reflecting a 10.3 per cent increase from the same period the previous year.
Demand for travel to and from the Middle East, Southwest Pacific and the Americas remained strong and saw a growth in the double-digits, according to Changi Airport Group (CAG) in a media statement released on Wednesday. However, the increase in traffic to and from Southeast and Northeast Asia was less significant. CAG also said that these two regions account for about 70 per cent of total passenger traffic at Changi Airport.
There are currently 100 airlines operating at Changi Airport, plying routes to more than 220 cities in 60 countries around the world.
