SINGAPORE - With just days to go before the qualifying races begin on Friday, transaction processor Amadeus has revealed that the top arrivals for the Formula One season in Singapore are expected to come from Australia (23%), the UK (12%) and the USA (8%).
The survey showed that F1 fans from London represent the highest number of bookings with 9 per cent of total bookings from any one city in the world, beating previous city frontrunner, Sydney, which is now in second place with 8 per cent. Melbourne is third with 6 per cent of total bookings.
However, the study only took into consideration bookings made until Sept 1. But, Amadeus said in a statement to the media, that last minute bookings can be expected.
The results also show that overall bookings for the Singapore Grand Prix 2012 are currently 3 per cent lower than at the same period last year, reflecting the possible impact of global downturn.
Travellers from the UK, Australia and New Zealand also show higher anticipation when booking for the Singapore Grand Prix than other countries, booking further in advance than neighbouring Asian countries.
