To save on a $5 entry ticket, a Singaporean student has reportedly climbed over the walls of a tourist attraction in Nanjing, China to gain access to the place.
The netizen, known only as "Blue Ocean" posted his recent exploit in a Chinese blog, yielding harsh criticism from the public who called his act disgraceful, the Shin Min Daily News said on Sunday.
According to the report, "Blue Ocean" – who is studying in China - was on a visit to the iconic Zhong Hua Gate in Nanjing when he discovered that the attraction did not offer a special ticket price for university students – something he called "discriminatory" and riled him.
Special discounted prices were however offered to primary and secondary school students, "Blue Ocean" said in his blow-by-blow blog account.
Seeing that it was already night, and that he might not be able to see much of the attraction clearly, he decided not to pay the 25 yuan (S$5) entry rate and to find a way to climb over the wall.
After feeling his way along the outer wall from the ticketing office, "Blue Ocean" said he found a suitable entry point. He noticed that the metal railings there were quite rusty and had likely been in place for sometime, so he rocked the railings back and forth to test its sturdiness. Barbs were inherent in the design of the railings, which stood about shoulder-height, and which meant he had to be deft in climbing over, he remarked on his blog post.
And though there were streams of pedestrians walking past, he reckoned that they would not pursue him for entering illegally.
"Blue Ocean" said at that point of time, he did consider whether his act was morally proper, given that he would be entering the attraction without a ticket.
Just before he climbed over, he was approached by three girls who also wanted to climb over. He later found out in a conversation that they were exchange students from Nanjing University
They brought him to another portion of the wall which was less brightly-lit, and which one of the girls figured was used by someone else before to gain entry.
The three girls climbed over in "expert" fashion, he said, and without wanting to lose face in front of the fairer sex, he handed over his backpack to one of the girls before making his own way over.
The four agreed to use the excuse of having misplaced their tickets, should they be checked by an official.
Disgruntled with the lack of a university student ticket price, netizen tells in his blog how he gets in without paying.

one more K to Stinkaporeans, now Stinkaporeans have 4Ks attached to them, Kiasi, kiasu, kiabo, kamsap. hahahahahahahaahahahah:D. What a bunch of losers.
Relax man, this is called CHINA. It is so common that if you dont do it, you are a real moron. They have an excuse for it: "cultural differences". This Sporean will make it in China. Now you shd all know why most Sporean companies & SIP didnt make it. It sucks to say this but it doesnt make common sense to do it your way in another person's turf! Take your pick - to be a honest, proud, do-gooder Sporean or, a worldly person (which entrepreneurers are made of). Relax...........not end of world.
Yea, yea - when our own S'poreans do this, it is fine.
What happened if a PRC student does this in SG, I wonder ?
weell, he is jus a student without income. what he did was not rite but with ltd fund i am more sympathetic than disgusted.
headache
Shame on you for bringing shame to Singapore. When you weighed your conscience, you should have known that it is cheating. Since there were no special rates for university students, then, then don't go. Nobody can force you.
