With airlines slashing budgets, flying is not the same any more. The ice cream is not so premium, the crackers and cheese rather blah. Banish travel blues with these goodies.
THE PERFECT SQUARE
One of my friends never travels without a tin of chocolate squares from Valrhona. The slim boxes do not take up much space and the chocolate comes in handy during trying times.
Flight delayed? Calm down, read a good book and have a square of chocolate. Uninspiring dessert on the food tray on board? Have a cup of coffee and a square of chocolate. Airline lost your luggage? Proceed to hotel, sit down, take a deep breath and have a square of chocolate.
Valrhona Guanaja, a dark chocolate with 70 per cent cocoa content, and Jivara, a milk chocolate with 40 per cent cacao, should address most emergencies.
Chocolate squares, $21 for a 90g tin, from the Valrhona store, Three-Sixty Market Place, 04-21 Ion Orchard, tel: 6509-3870. Opening hours: 10am to 10pm daily
