MORE than half of Singapore travellers go on holidays with no insurance whatsoever, a recent research study by insurance group Aviva revealed.
This was despite a large proportion (71 per cent) of travellers experiencing major incidents or disruptions on holiday and nearly one third losing valuable items on their trips.
The survey - involving 200 online respondents who took a vacation in the past 12 months – also found that most were unaware of what travel insurance could cover.
49 per cent did not know that claims could be made for the misconnection of scheduled flights and 31 percent had no idea that the theft of valuables was covered as well.
A small number of those surveyed - one in five - also did not realise that insurance covered medical fees for injuries caused by accidents.
