SINGAPORE - Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will celebrate the opening of not one but two hotels this Thursday, bringing the total number of hotels at the integrated resort (IR) to six.

The Equarius Hotel and Beach Villas will complement the Sentosa IR’s Crockfords Tower, Hotel Michael, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore and Festive Hotel by adding resort-style luxury offerings.

Initially scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2011, the new hotels mark a milestone in the final phases of the IR’s completion, almost two years after it first opened on Feb 14, 2010.

A top estimate of S$600 million has been invested in the development of the final section - the West Zone - which consists of the two hotels, the Marine Life Park, a water theme park and a destination spa.

Nestled in nature amidst Sentosa's rich foliage and flanked by stunning views of Keppel Bay and Labrador Park, the hotels hope to attract local and overseas vacationers with the ultimate luxury resort living experience.

The seven-storey Equarius Hotel has 172 rooms, comprising 136 deluxe rooms, 30 garden rooms and six suites. Rack rates start from S$800 per night.

Located on the same property is the other establishment - Beach Villas - with 22 private chalets of one to four-bedroom options. The most luxurious of them all is 'The Palace', a two-storey villa with four bedrooms, which costs a whopping S$15,000 a night.

Mr Roger Lienhard, Senior Vice President of RWS Hospitality Development and Projects said the urban hotels allow the customer to experience five-star resort treatment close to the city.

Some 4,000 trees have been planted by RWS in and around the properties to create a "close-to-nature experience".

“We set out to create a tropical garden of peace and tranquility that rejuvenates the senses. Upon arrival, guests will feel like they are entering a different world, as they are greeted by a splendid avenue of trees on both sides,” said Mr. Tsuyoshi Narita, Senior Associate of Peridian Asia, the landscape architecture firm behind the landscape design for the two hotels.

If you liked the designs of the other four RWS hotels, you'll be delighted to know that the same architects - Michael Graves & Associates together with DP Architects - had a hand in the new properties.

The hotels' lush interiors were taken care of by Dpd + Pte Ltd and Diana Simpson Design.

Amenities-wise, the two hotels share seven meeting rooms, an event pavilion, an indoor gymnasium and two outdoor swimming pools - one located at Equarius and the other at the Beach Villas.

Guests at the two hotels also have the option to use the facilities at three other RWS properties, such as Hard Rock Hotel's sandy beach or the kid's club. All you have to is to request for a buggy to get you there.

Facilities at Crockfords Tower, which admits only private guests, are off-limits.

At the moment, there is only one F&B outlet that is shared between the West Zone hotels. Forest, helmed by award-winning celebrity chef Sam Leong, located adjacent to the Equarius Hotel lobby, is scheduled to open on Feb 16 as well.

When the destination spa by renowned UK spa brand ESPA opens in May 2012, there will be another restaurant located a short distance's walk from the hotels.

Later this year, holidaymakers can also look forward to two treetop lofts and 11 two-storey ocean suites situated within the Oceanarium. RWS will announce the opening dates closer to the launch.

From Feb 16 to June 13, special packages for the two hotels are available through the RWS website and authorised travel agents.
