I usually heard that shopping in Johor Bahru is much more cheaper than shopping locally. However, I've only been there to
shop
once in a blue moon and I do not know of any updates of the place or any new shopping centres in JB. Where's good to
shop
in JB?
Tebrau City is the biggest and newest shopping mall in JB. If you like shopping, there's G2000, MNG, Giordano, MAC, Esprit. If you don't like branded goods, there are other other smaller names or unknown brands - yet they are great buys. If you like food, there's Japanese, Macau, Hong Kong, Italian, American, other than Malaysian food of course. If you're looking for books and stationery, Harris has a great range! It is like another version of Popular. If you plan to catch a movie at a cheaper price (as compared to Sg), there's also the newest TGV cinema there. Not to mention, the huge Jusco. Great place for families, couples, friends outing... child friendly. Depends what you are going to buy, perhaps RM 300-RM 500 (S$125-S$205) if you're on a shopping spree?

VCDs, DVDs, Music CDs and Computer Softwares are abundant in Holiday Plaza. There are a few good hairdressing salons on the 4th level. Holiday Plaza is the first shopping centre built in Johor Bahru town. Although this place is considered an "old" place, it still attracts many shoppers.
Hi, I need information on Ho Chi Minh during Chinese New Year. Are
shops
closed during that time? Is it better to follow tours or proceed on our own?

shops
are closed during CNY. Book everything well in advance.

Ho Chi Minh City was crazy during the CNY and the days leading up to it. Le Loi at night had the center lanes blocked off for pedestrians only. The parks were really packed with people. My advice is that if you've been to HCM before and you really know your way there, of course, you can proceed on your own. But if you're a newbie tourist there, it's better to follow tours. Well, I'm sure you don't want to get lost in another city when celebrating CNY.
Shopping in Bangkok
Times square is a must go! The apparel sold there is stylish but a lot cheaper in pricing. Siam paragon
and MBK shopping centreEmporium would be a good choice for high-end shopping
Price range: negotiable. one shirt could actually cost 2 SGD
You could also check out Bang Nam Phung Floating market though it is kind of dirty i suppose? They sell stuff like accessories clothes to even household appliances.

Recently, I have been to Shanghai and I discovered this really awesome place where they sell really cheap and reasonably good quality goods. I highly recommend this street known as Qi Pu Lu. It is really near Nan Jing Xi Lu but it closes at 6pm. Remember to do some bargaining but please honour your last offer after they compromise or they could be very nasty to you!
Which is better? Qi Pu Lu or Yuyuan Bazaar?
Phuket is not only known for their beaches but also their ceramics and handmade crafts.
For those interested in refurnishing your house in Zen style, you could purchase your furniture at Phuket with authentic handcraft at a lower price than Barang barang!
You would probably have to go through DHL and it would depend on the mass and size of your shipment back. But all in all, it is much cheaper than the furniture sold in certain stores in Singapore, definitely a good buy! Furthermore, the quality of the products are really good.

I personally will not suggest going to Qi Pu Lu unless you're prepared to "fight" with the crowd and you dont mind chaotic mess with ppl spitting next to you! The things are cheap there especially if you have an excellent skill in bargaining. However, i feel jaded to go through the whole process of bargaining every single buy from coin pouch to cargo luggage. Yu Yuan market sells the usual touristy stuffs. It is a good place to buy souvenir to bring back home for your family & friends.
