I heard KL is a shopping haven, some say even better than Orchard Road. Which are the best malls in KL?

It's The Pavillion!

I went to KL and found that they have opened yet another shopping mall, it is called The Pavillion. I guess it as big as KLCC, or even bigger.
I thoroughly enjoyed shopping there, including the bistro restaurant. KL is really expanding the shopping industry.

If you like periodicals and magazines, head to Sungei Wang along Bukit Bintang. On the top floor there's a shop just selling magazines. Lots of them. Past issues only but all in good condition (not second-hand ah) and cheap. Anything you want from fishing to IT to sports.

One of the top malls would be Suria KLCC which houses top designer boutiques. During the sales period [March, Aug, Dec] prices are slashed by as much as 70%. Berjaya Times Square is also another favourite with great sales year-round. Personally, I like Pavillion Mall - mostly for the atmosphere, but also for the shopping experience, it having a good mix of both high-end and mid-range shops, and lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from.

For 'suburban' malls which are slightly further out from the city centre, Mid Valley Mega Mall and Sunway Pyramid are decent malls with anchor department stores. They house cinema complexes, and Sunway Pyramid has bowling alleys and an ice-skating rink popular with kids. One Utama and The Curve are also popular with those staying in the Damasara area.

For those seeking bargains and cheap finds, Sungei Wang and Bukit Bintang is the place to go. Clothes, accessories, eyewear, electronics, the list goes on! The only downside to this place is its very confusing layout, but the steals you might find here makes all the navigation and confusion worth it! And of course, do not miss the outdoor shopping at Petaling Street and Central Market - you can find souvenirs, local products and fake goods here. Remember to bargain [read: haggle!] as prices are all marked up street-market style.
