My wife and I will be taking our two children, aged six and three, to Brisbane for a short break. Can you recommend reasonably priced accommodations with cooking facilities? - Aaron Loke

Accomodations at Brisbane
The Astor Metropole hotel & apartments (www.astorhotel.com.au/Metropole) under the Best Western motel chain starts from A$95 (S$123) a night and includes full cooking facilities.
The 3 1/2-star hotel provides only a queen-sized bed for its self-contained hotel rooms and is suitable for up to three people. Additional beds cost extra.
Its proximity to shopping malls and entertainment centres in Brisbane City is a bonus.
Slightly more expensive is Park Regis North Quay (www.parkregishotels.com/hotels/brisbane/park-regis-north-quay), which offers a great view of the Brisbane River.
There are one- and two-bedroom apartments from A$115. All include full kitchen facilities, Internet access and a DVD player to keep your kids occupied.
