I would like to drive through southern New Zealand in November. What must I not miss on my first visit?

Outdoor rides and penguin encounters
In Christchurch, head for the International Antarctic
Centre for penguin encounters and an outdoor
Hagglund ride on the all-terrain vehicle that is commonly
used in Antarctica. There is also a minus 5
deg C polar room for visitors to play in the ice and
snow without going outdoors.
Arthur’s Pass National Park between Canterbury
and the West Coast has breathtaking mountain
views and snaking rivers. Look out for the New
Zealand mountain parrot, Kea, which can be found
at the park.
Another park not to be missed is the Mount Cook
National Park, for views of Lake Tekapo, located
700m above sea level over an expanse of 83 sq km.
In Queenstown, go to the Goldfields Mining Centre
for a spot of gold panning or take a gondola ride.
